The Joe Show comes to Wasaga Beach! You are invited to attend this dynamic harmony pedagogy course as I lead participants in a comprehensive exploration of Celebrate Theory: Level 9 Harmony, the official textbook co-authored by Dr. Julia Galieva-Szokolay and myself. Our intensive morning sessions (three consecutive Tuesdays) will include:
- a discussion around the pacing of the course material contained in the book
- new vocabulary and question models
- working sessions through selected written exercises (SATB/keyboard style writing)
- aspects of harmonic and structural analysis including newly-introduced concepts (such as tonal hierarchy, melodic periods, balanced binary and more!)
- aural analysis: creative exercises in critical listening drawing on classical and popular music
These information-packed sessions will be enhanced with power point presentations, audio/video clips – even a Jeopardy-style game (!) – to illustrate how we can elevate examination-based teaching to exhilaration-based teaching!
Dates: Tuesdays, October 3, 10, and 17, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Complimentary refreshments will be served.
Location: my home/studio: 30 Berkshire Avenue, Wasaga Beach, ON, L9Z0G3
