The History Challenge Prize for August, 2025

I am pleased to announce a one-time-only History Challenge Prize for the August 2025

Examination session.  Several years ago, the RCM discontinued live in-person history exams in favor of an online/on-demand examination. While I have recognized some of the benefits that students might derive from the online format, I have been vocal about what I feel was lost in switching from an in-person examination format to an online model. I’m thrilled that the RCM is now offering students the choice of an in-person exam (as was the model for decades) or the online/on-demand exam.

To celebrate the return of the in-person history examination, I will be awarding a History Challenge Prize of $100 to the Level 9, 10, or ARCT History student with the highest mark.

The details:

  • The award will be given to a student registered in any one of my Summer School 2025 history group classes
  • The winner will have completed the in-person history examination on Friday, August 8th, 2025
  • In case of a tie, each winner will receive $75.
  • Once students receive their marks from the RCM in September, they can submit a screenshot of their exam result for prize consideration.
  • The winner will be contacted in early October. The winner agrees to be named as The Winner!!! on the PCM website.
  • The $100 prize will take the form of a digital Amazon Gift Card, which they will receive by email.
  • Only one overall prize for excellence is being offered (not one prize for each history grade).

To those students who prefer to write the online exam, you have my best wishes, always. To those students who place themselves in the running for the History Challenge Prize, I say, GOOD LUCK!

To all of you, I say,

Keep the Faith! Believe in The Phoenix! The Phoenix believes in you!
